The service Guild of Good Shepherd Church has been an
active organization for many years. We have earned
money by dues, monthly “birthday box” contributions, and
by having semi-annual bake sales as well as other activities
so that we can do special things for the church not
taken care of by finances of the regular budget.
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 1:00 pm
in the Common Room. We have a monthly hostess or
hostesses who serve dessert after the regular business
meeting.
Our mission reason for “being” is to do things to improve
the fabric of the church and to be able to serve any bereavement
lunches needed following funerals in the parish
and to help provide gifts to various charities.
In the last few years we have carpeted the Common
Room, paid for new floors in the kitchen and parish hall
and the paint for them and purchased a complete new set
of china dishes for church dinners. We paid for at least
eight of the badly needed new folding tables, purchased
the new church dishwasher, had the kitchen stoves commercially
cleaned and had the new stainless steel sink
and new disposal installed in the kitchen.
Last month we had a bake sale. This month we have put
up a gift tree in the foyer and all donations will go to any
needy families in the parish through the church’s Good
Samaritan Fund. Please be generous during this Christmas
season.
Our officers are: Maxine Hoppe, President; Mary Ellen
Dickerson, Secretary; Beverly Saxon-Ellis, Treasurer. The
members regularly attending and lending active support to
our work are: Sandy Balance, Norma Brandon, Helen Debniak,
Mary Ellen Dickerson, Ramona Cassidy, Hazel Caton,
Ginny Chrostowski, Ann Gray, Barbara Hale, Nancy Hamilton,
Maxine Hoppe, Linda Keeling, Peggy Kupka, Alta
Light, Georgia McReynolds, Beverly Saxon-Ellis and Joan
Wagner.
We need more members! The tasks are many and the
fellowship is great. Come join us.
